Todd White Reception ~ Denver, Colorado

April 9th artist Todd White was the guest of honor at a reception in Denver at our temporary gallery in Cherry Creek North. We partnered with several companies to put together the reception and were blown away by the kindness and hard work these businesses put into this event.

At the opening of the reception Todd's manager, Kelly Scott, spoke about Todd and how he got started. While working for Warner Brother's as the animator for Sponge Bob Square Pants and Tiny Toons, Todd was given the opportunity to showcase his "Other Art" at a Warner Brother's art event.Todd sold every piece of art on display that evening and promptly quit his day job.

Kelly describes Todd as an "Observational Artist". Sketch book in hand wherever he goes, Todd will people watch and sketch. He will then come up with a title and story, go back to his sketch books and find the right characters and create the piece from there.

Todd met with collectors throughout the evening and actually did sketches for all the clients that purchased a piece of his art. He was able to capture our client's personalities quickly and humorously in the sketches.

Many of our clients wanted Todd to explain the stories behind his art. Todd, however, was reluctant to share those stories. He would rather have the collector draw their own conclusions and fall in love with the art without being prejudiced by Todd's explanation.

Todd and Kelly spent several days with us and we really enjoyed getting to know them. We have sold Todd's art for the last 5 years, but getting to meet Todd personally definitely helped us to understand his art and appreciate his humor.

The exhibit moved to our gallery location in Fort Collins and will be on display there permanently.
