My intention is to express the love and inspiration I feel when I listen to the work of these musicians and to share that inspiration with others!
I have been drawing and painting since I was a kid, being inspired by animals and Native American subjects.
In 1990, I graduated from the Pennsylvania School of Art & Design and moved to San Diego in 1993.
Growing up in the ‘70s in Reading PA, I listened to great radio stations that were broadcast out of Philadelphia. These stations played a wide variety of rock music and album deep cuts from the 1960’s.
That’s when I fell in love with classic rock and I’ve been a huge fan ever since!
The Doors, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Cream, Led Zeppelin, the Yardbirds, Strawberry Alarm Clock, and Blind Faith are some of my favorites.
I also love The Troggs, The Mamas & the Papas, Spanky and Our Gang, and the Lovin’ Spoonful.
Most of my paintings have some 3-dimensional qualities, with certain elements of the picture rising above the base surface. Also incorporated into much of my work are real guitars, clothing, and even sunglasses!
This gives the impression that the subjects are right there with you. I’ve had people tell me they sometimes catch themselves thinking someone is in the room with them!
