Photographer and actor J Bloomrosen has captured a diverse range of musicians over the last 15 years on film.

J Bloomrosen

J Bloomrosen has been photographing musicians for the past decade. In this time he has shot more than 500 of the biggest acts in the music business, crossing all boundaries and genres. He has a varied background that speaks of the many experiences he’s already had, and the myriad of others waiting to be discovered.

Before pursuing photography professionally, Bloomrosen was the original soundman on such highly acclaimed stage productions as Driving Miss Daisy and Frankie & Johnnie. He also had the opportunity to serve as stage manager for the 80’s rock band Blotto, as well as serve as a lighting designer on a cruise ship.

It was after a head-on car crash that Bloomrosen took up photography seriously, under the suggestion of his physical therapist. Alongside his affinity for writing, he found himself Assistant Editor/Photographer of two magazines: NY based Good Times, and The US Music Vault Online (www.usmv.com).

Bloomrosen’s portfolio includes everyone from The Dead to Fear Factory, as well as extensive published reviews of most of the concerts he’s attended. He has written extensively about music, with his favorite piece being a scathing indictment of a producer Michael Scher, entitled, Woodstock ’99: What the Hell Happened?" He has a degree in Drama Studies/Literature from SUNY Purchase, where he ran a company and produced 32 plays in three years.

Bloomrosen’s feature film debut was as Leon in "Nightmare". He is also in the process of putting finishing touches on an opera based on a Steven King novella, and is marketing a screenplay he wrote with his brother entitled "Arms for the Poor." One of Bloomrosen’s most current undertakings has been playing the part of The Divorced Man in the movie "Lady in the Water".
